Penketh & Sankey have been served long and well by all who have donated their time to enrich the lives of the children attending Latham Hall!
Where it all started
Richard Latham was born in Bolton in 1910 the son of a Fly Frame Fitter. Richard was the local school master (Stocks Lane), a local councillor and the Group Scout Master of the 28th Warrington. Richard was very influential in the provision of Latham Hall and was a very keen supporter of the both the Boy Scout and Girl Guide Associations.

For the sum of one pound dated 17th March 1965
The land obtained from Alex Wigan was then passed to the Boy Scout Association Trust Corporation at 25 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1 on 29th September 1966. The “units” being the 28th Warrington Scout Group and the 8th Warrington Guide Company.
On 29th September 1966 a Declaration of Trust was drawn up by the Boy Scouts Association Trust Corporation which sets up the Joint Committee that has representatives nominated from the 28th Warrington Scout group and the 8th Warrington Guide Company.
28TH Warrington Scout Group originally registered by the Boy Scout Association on 21st May 1943 (Reg No 20825) as 28th Warrington (Penketh Methodist), the nature of the registration was updated on 5th September 1952 to an Open group.
17th January 1967 Penketh Scouts and Guides were registered as a Charity with the Department of Education and Science (reference number L330/1100).
On 26th January 1978 a meeting of the leaders of the Scout and Guide movement of Latham Hall it was agreed that all sections using the premises will have full use of the premises and facilities until that group or section ceases to function :-

- 4th Warrington Brownie Pack
- 4th Warrington Guide Company
- 4th Warrington Brownie Pack
- 18th Warrington Brownie Pack
- Venture/Ranger Joint Unit
